chase/wamu overdraft hell

Chase has arrived. The new owner of Washington Mutual, carries their wonderful world of credit card practices over to squeeze on their newly owned California bank account holders - my recently setup WAMU checking account had an overdraft (about $20 over from debit purchase, paid back before next business day upon discovery) and was hit with their famous $33 overdraft fee. Two attempts at pleading for fee waiver (as a first time faulter) met with stonewalling customer service form-letter responses that says in so many words "don't care not our problem". I guess they want to provide an argument to sell me their overdraft protection next month.
